The Choirboys by Joseph Wambaugh

What is a Police Choir Practice?

The Choirboys, is a novel and a controversial 1975 work of fiction written by Los Angeles Police Department officer-turned-novelist Joseph Wambaugh.
In the book a group of officers conducts end-of-shift get-togethers they euphemistically call "choir practices"
Due to the popularity of the book, the slang term "choir practice" became a somewhat popular euphemism for off-duty recreational activities.

Joseph Wambaugh has endorsed our Event and sends his greetings.

Joseph Wambaugh "I'm sorry that I cannot join you at the September choir practice. I had the pleasure of spending a month in the great city of Toronto many years ago to prep a CBS miniseries that I adapted from my nonfiction book, "Echoes in the Darkness."  We turned portions of Toronto into Philadelphia and filmed a scene on the banks of Lake Ontario which we turned into Miami Beach.  It happened to be a very warm Spring day but when I woke up the next morning there was nearly a foot of snow on the ground!  We  knew we were not in Miami then.   All the best to you Canadian choirboys."
Fraternally, Joe Wambaugh
